I'm writing to say thank you. I've had my two orchid plants for several years, one for approximately nine years and the other for six. The younger plant is actually an offshoot of the older plant. I purchased my first orchid from a garden show. It was in bloom at the time. I wasn't sure what to do with the original bloom spike once it finished flowering, so I left it as is. Eventually a second plant grew from the tip of the spike.

Until I found your website about 3 years ago, I was very limited in my knowledge of how to properly take care of my orchids. I discovered your website when I was searching for new orchid pots. Based on care advice that I found on your site, I also bought your Classic Orchid planting mix and FEED ME! MSU Orchid Fertilizer along with my new pots.

I separated the two plants, and following advice from your site, I repotted my orchids in their new pots and mix and began a regular feeding/watering schedule. Eventually I also purchased a humidity tray.

My orchids have thrived!! They've grown - the baby is now as big as the parent - and both regularly put out new leaves. But, and it was a big but, they still failed to bloom. I hadn't seen a bloom since the original bloom spike nine years ago. But I was determined, so this fall I religiously followed your advice, creating an environment of shortened days and lower temps in order to encourage blooming. And as you can see from the attached photos, I was successful. FINALLY!! Thank you, thank you!! Both of my plants decided to bloom and they look beautiful. I wanted to share the good news and my gratitude with you.

Your Oxygen Core Dual Pots are amazing. I've been using them for about 18 months now and have had extordinary results. I first used them on a phal seedling. I had two that were identical. Within a few months the plant in the oxygen core pot had several healthy new roots and the plant had doubled in size compared to the plant in the plastic orchid pot. I then tried them on 2 miltonias with identical results. The miltonia in that pot has been blooming for nearly a month now and according to the grower I purchased both plants from, shouldn't have bloomed for another 6 Months...no kidding! I'm also using those oxygen pots for my paph sanderianums which I haven't done well with in the past, but after repoting them in the oxygen core pot they are thriving. All of your products are exceptional but these pots set a new standard...they help me grow a healthier plant that matures and blooms faster and can't be over-watered. If you grow carnivorous plants, this is your one-stop shopping for ANYTHING you need to keep your plants thriving! Excellent choices, super fast shipping, and great customer service. A+

Plants that would very much benefit your medias are the following:

Nepenthes
Drosera
Pinguicula
Cephalotus

These carnivorous plants are very popular and it is a worldwide hobby but no sites offer the extent of the supplies needed other than media and pots. Specialized mixes forces us to physically go to nurseries hoping they have the mix we need in stock, then mix it ourselves. I simply don't have the time and sure I'm not alone.

I have 14 plants I have invested hundreds of dollars on which includes proper lighting, etc.

Besides the medium mixes you have to offer, the humidity trays are great for the Nepenthes species since they need to be pretty much soaked, yet should not be in a tray with standing water. Also, your tap water granular fertilizer is the recommended mix for all the plants mentioned above. Only a 1/4 teaspoon per gallon should be used though. It was great that the spoon that came with my fertilizer happened to be just that!

I don't even know where to begin! It is not often that a company impresses me the way yours has. I apologize that my review is lengthy as it comes from two perspectives - as a new orchid owner and as someone who works in ecommerce and is a long time internet shopper.

I thought about getting an orchid for a very long time, but kept hearing how difficult they are to grow. I couldn't bear the thought of bringing such a beautiful plant home only to have it go about as well as my last attempt at goldfish ownership. I received my first ever orchid in March of this year for my 24th birthday.

It wasn't until the flowers were gone that I realized I had to decide if I was just going to treat this plant as if it were a very long lasting bouquet and throw it out, or actually learn how to care for my orchid. Needless to say, I couldn't throw it out. I decided to learn all that I could about my "Teacup Orchid", a small pink Phalaenopsis. I spent an exceedingly long time online searching orchid care and orchid repotting, reading everything I could find.

My searches led me back to your site time and time again. Eventually, I deemed rePotme.com as the best resource for my needs. I found your site to be amazingly comprehensive, but also very encouraging for a beginner - even offering plant specific information and video instruction! I felt like I could come back to your site with new questions as my knowledge and experience grew. Most importantly, your information comes across as credible and trustworthy despite the fact that you are an ecommerce site. I never felt like your resources were designed to push your product and the "contact us" messaging felt genuine - as if I could ask a question with no intention of buying a product.

Of course, all of these things did lead me to purchase from your site. I did do some comparison shopping first, but nothing came close to the quality and breadth of offerings on your site. The prices were unbeatable (even if I could have found any of these things at a local nursery or ( Big Box Store ) they would have been more expensive for sure). I was pleasantly surprised that I could buy a "Junior" sized bag of orchid mix. The quality of the mix was amazing, and the "Junior" size bag was still nearly full after repotting my orchid into a 3.75" Oxygen Core Dual pot. I also want to thank you for the gift of the label and the flower clip. I didn't order any labels as I just have the one orchid, but I really felt a little like a "pro" as I proudly filled out the label after finishing my first every orchid repotting.

And in case you had been wondering about your decision to offer the ability to check out with PayPal - it absolutely sealed the deal. For me Paypal does not just offer convenience, but gives me confidence to buy from a smaller internet retailer that I haven't heard of or don't know much about. Also, (to be perfectly honest) it is rare for me to pay shipping on an internet purchase. If I can't find a free shipping coupon code (or a discount equal or greater to shipping) I usually look for another site where I can get free shipping. However, I didn't mind paying for shipping on my order from your site. I don't usually receive items via FedEx either, and was expecting at least a week for delivery. I was shocked when the package arrived in less than 24 hours from when I placed the order!

Receiving a follow-up note checking that I was pleased with my order (knowing full well it is most likely a triggered email - it still felt like a personal email) (( THEY REALLY ARE PERSONAL ...rePotme note )) -- that just blew me away. In the few instances I can recall that I have even received a "thank you for your order" email from other companies they are typically cold, impersonal, and pushy - as they are really "come back to our site and buy more" emails. After receiving a sincere feeling follow-up and thank you, I actually feel (for the first time) that I have found an online store that captures that feeling of a neighborhood store where you get personal treatment. I honestly thought that was a marketing myth. I don't even know of a local store where you can get this kind of service and attention, and I live in a small yuppie shoreline town in Connecticut!

While my entire experience with your company has been an amazing one, it was one specific moment that compelled me to write such a lengthy review - As I set out my extra orchid mix to dry, I realized that if you hadn't offered this little piece of information on how to properly store the mix I would probably be ordering a whole new bag from you the next time I went to use it. I don't know that most retailers would have told me what to do with the left over mix to keep it from going bad. Telling me how to properly store your product may seem like no big deal to you, but it is a very big deal. It is a rare thing to find a company that truly values and demonstrates integrity. By offering more than fair prices and by being not only honest but forthcoming with information about your products it is clear that you are committed to treating your customers fairly and with respect, and these qualities are the foundation of long lasting, positive relationships.

I knew back when I was still doing my research that I would be coming back to rePotme.com as I had new questions, but my experience with ordering from your company has left me excited to place my next order with you! I have already recommended your site to others, while this is not unusual for me - it is unusual that I will be able to recommend your site to both people who have never grown an orchid before and to people who are hesitant to shop online. Thanks again on the always wonderful products, super speedy shipping, and awesome customer service. My orchids are glad to see the larger pots. They are potted in your media and fed the MSU fertilizer. They are huge with roots galore. I have already repotted one Phal., which had roots literally bursting out of its pot and climbing over the edges. Just waiting for the rest of the blooms to fall from the others, in order to repot. In addition, back in March, I bought a "Garbage / Clearance" NO ID Phal. from a store for $5, with blooms so sad and falling off, but the roots looked healthy and strong, and the plant was huge. I just can't let a good plant get thrown away. I repotted it in the Imperial Monterey Mix that I had on hand, with a sad bloom or two still trying to hang on. (I know this is a No No, but what could it hurt?) Since then, it began growing new roots and leaves. The spike even began to grow / elongate, adding new buds, and rewarded me with 7 new blooms, the size of your palm. A testament that your products work wonders.

I contacted rePotme about a serious Fungus Gnat problem. They suggested I use Mosquito Bits, Get Off Me Bug Spray (because we have a dog with serious allergies) Yellow Sticky Traps and Mosquito Dunks. They warned me that it would take a while to resolve this problem and that I might have to repot my plants.

Within oh about a month and a half, NO Fungus Gnats! And I didn't have to repot. They told me that I can reduce my use of Mosquito Dunks to once a month for maintenance, though I will probably continue to use the Get Off Me Bug Spray which has a pleasant cinnamon odor.

Wow! I must say, I'm impressed!

First off, my order did arrive safe and sound - it was a Mother's Day present and my mom LOVES it! I bought her a Phalaenopsis a few years ago and despite her thoughts that she would kill it immediately, she has done a wonderful job caring for it. She has experienced several bloomings, her original pot is now quite small and we plan to transplant it together once I visit her in late June. She was originally terrified of this but after showing her your tutorial, she feels we can do it. By then the current blooming will have finished.

My mother was overly pleased with the pot I selected - the color and craftsmanship just tickled her. She spent about 10 minutes talking to me about the little details here and there and how it looks so good in the room. She was also flabbergasted at the amount of media she received. She expected perhaps enough to do one pot - not enough to do several! I can't wait to see the items myself and look forward to purchasing pots for my own African Violets from you when the time to repot them grows nearer.

Lastly, it's amazing you send me this e-mail in light of a current situation. Back in early March I had made an online purchase from another company. By the beginning of May, I became quite concerned as I had neither received ANY contact from that company nor had I received the item I purchased. On top of that, when I checked my "order status" it had remained at pending. I sent them an e-mail to inquire as to the reasons for this and their reply was that they were out of stock of a particular item needed to make my order. No apologies or anything.

I have owned several phals for about 6 years. One or two have not bloomed since the original purchase years ago. However, I found your website and purchased the necessary items to repot my phals. Well, let me tell you, the one that hasn't bloomed in 6 years has now put on a spike in the last week. At first I thought it was a root, but, low and behold, it is a spike. And, only after I repotted it. I must tell you that the roots were a mess, many rotted. Hi! I emailed you last spring when I received that wonderful Monterey bark & being anxious to repot.

The results have been amazing! Got summer blossoms I hadn't seen for a long time. And NOW, I have six (6)!, normally Christmas orchids budding out for the past two weeks! I just threw out the remainder of a "Premium" store bought bag of Orchid mix. When I compared that one with yours there was nothing but differences! Your quality of materials far surpasses any other brand that I have ever used, it retains moisture far longer than the others, and the blend of high quality materials is beyond anything I have found elsewhere.

I have a habit of purchasing mishandled Orchids from nurseries, and usually have experienced minimal growth....until I started using your mixes and (FEED ME!) fertilizer. My Cattleya that has not done anything in two years has started growing two new pseudobulbs and there is very notable root growth after a month of being re potted! My only request would be that you continue to expand your ceramic pot line. it's extremely difficult to find nice ceramic pots, and moreover to find them in colors other than dark hues like blue or teal. Seeing a few more color choices for some of the lovely pots you have would be great - often I find the color I want (green, yellow, red), or the pot I want, but rarely both! =)

So sorry for the slight delay in getting back to you - but I was way too busy re-planting and "playing" with all the terrific ingredients you sent. You asked, "am I happy with my order?" - well let me tell you, I'm beyond thrilled. Everything was even better than promised on your site.

I have been "into" plants my whole life and always wanted to be able to buy small amounts of various different ingredients to add to a mix I was 'creating'. (one of my favorite hobby pastimes) Most of the time when I would read about someone adding something new to a planting mix - I was unable to find it or could only find a 50 lb. bag for $50 or more. Your "Scoops to Go" was like being a kid in a candy shop for me. I had such fun deciding what to try and still stay in some kind of a budget. The quality was absolutely amazing. You said they would be in heavy duty bags with handles and they really were! The Perlite you sent was the FIRST time I have ever seen a bag of Perlite that wasn't half dust. Also, the very nice touch of a couple of the bumblebee and dragonfly clips being included in my order was a surprise - and thank you for that too.

Just in case you are wondering if I even grow orchids - well I started about 2 years ago and had purchased 3 inexpensive but healthy ones. One paph, one phrag, and one phal. I had always shied away from them because the potting requirements seemed so tricky. Then I saw an ad for that other kind of orchid mix that I think you seem to be referring to in your site - the one with 'secret ingredients.' It made it all seem so easy so I bought some and decided to give it a go. Well, they did really well for the first few months, then a very slow constant decline. They all lasted about one year and then I gave up and tossed them. It wasn't until I read all the info on your site (and referencing a magazine) that I discovered that the diatomite does absorb and hold the salts - and that they can't be leached out via normal methods. What a surprise! But it does explain why the plants kept going down hill. Oddly enough, the last t time I did buy a bag of that un-named mix it came with a little note saying that this material absolutely DID NOT need to be flushed at all. I had been using their fine seedling mix in a cactus mix that I put together and strangely, very shortly after finally giving the pot a light feeding I had algae growing on all the pieces of the diatomite. I should have figured it out myself, but I am glad that you explained it so thoroughly.

Before this gets any longer, here are a few more thoughts. Love your products, the fantastic quality, the website pics and thorough explanations of everything you sell. All the little extra info/help sites are wonderful too and were a big help to me. Your customer service and follow-up is great too. How many companies write you to find out if you are happy with your purchase and then throw in a little something extra too? The plastic pots I purchased are wonderful - the best design I've ever seen. I already have started transferring some cactus and succulents into them. It is obvious to me that you researched this area before just stocking whatever you could find. The drainage and air flow into the bottom - and combined with your wonderful mixes - it is perfect. I would be ordering again today if I could. LOL

I am planning on being a life-time customer. You offer exactly what I always wished existed. Please keep up your excellent work - and if I may be so bold - add EVEN MORE neat stuff.

It is due solely to your company that I will be trying orchids again in the near future. And when I do they will be going into ONLY one of your premium blends (and with some luck also into one of those gorgeous ceramic pots).

"Thanks for checking up with me about the arrival of my order. Shipment was perfect.

I have to admit that my orchids, especially Paphiopedilum, look much better after application of the FEED ME! MSU granular fertilizer. I use it at 1 tsp per PUR filter purified water every two weeks, I water most of my orchids that are in bark twice per week. Orchids that are in finer bark or more water retaining media are watered once per week. ... By the way, my Vandofinetia 'Blaupunkt' started a spike about 2 months after I applied the FEED ME!. It did not bloom for about 2 years after it was received from a grower with a spike. I'm going to experiment with Coconut Husk fibers as all orchids that I received in this medium (Vandofinetia, Ascocentrum, several Psychopsis) look exceptionally healthy."
