Medium Fir Bark

Please note: The medium fir bark we have been getting recently is running a bit smaller than pictured. For years fir bark has been a staple in orchid mixes. Medium fir bark is best suited to epiphites with medium to large roots. Fir bark breaks down more quickly in wet humid environments and as it breaks down it uses nitrogen. Fertilizer with a higher nitrogen component is required for fir bark mixes. Fir bark comes from the bark of Douglas Fir. Small Fir Bark, and Large Fir Bark are also available. A exceptional alternative to fir bark is aged Medium Monterey Pine Bark.
