Tree fern fiber is a popular orchid potting medium. It is resistant to decay and helps with aeration of the mix. Tree fern holds up well under moist, humid conditions. Tree fern fiber comes from the roots of a fern from the Cyatheaceae family and provides some minor nutrients to orchids. When used as a topdressing, tree fern helps control algae buildup. Medium Tree Fern Fiber and Large Tree Fern Fiber are also available.
