Cheerleader Chrysanthemum

CHRYSANTHEMUM 'Cheerleader ' 36" tall, up to 5-6" bloom, full sun, late summer-early fall bloom. Gigantic, copper-orange corsage-type bloom stands tall on sturdy stems. A must have football mum! Deer resistant. Zones 3-9. Potted in 3" pot. Mums are essential for adding bold color to sunny gardens in late summer and fall. Their blooms can reach 4 to 8 inches across (with disbudding) and deliver a stunning seasonal display. To encourage fall flowering, pinch back plants until mid-summer; otherwise, they may bloom early. Mums spread by rhizomes and will grow larger over time. For winter protection, apply 4–6 inches of mulch after the ground freezes. Avoid cutting them back in fall—the dead growth helps insulate the roots. Prune away old stems and leaves in spring when new green shoots appear.
