Redwood bark is used for its ability to lower pH in a mix and as such it is often used in potting mixes for Cymbidium orchids and plants that like an acidic environment. Sustainably harvested Shredded Redwood Bark is stringy, open, fluffy and more resistant to decay than fir bark. This type of shredded redwood bark is sometimes called "Gorilla Hair" because of its wiry consistency.
